Parts Washer Manufacturer Comparison Chart

When selecting a parts washer or jet spray washer for your application it is important to determine the cleaning capability of the various parts washers. StingRay's engineers carefully analyzed the work volume, load capacity, duty type, heating and pump performance of StingRay, JRI Industries, PMW Equipment ( RG Hanson , Roto-jet, Stoelting & ALKOTA ), Better Engineering, Safety-Kleen, Cuda ( Landa & Hotsy ), Proceco, and Renegade to develop the following manufacturers comparison chart of parts washers and jet spray washers. The types of parts washers include retractable turntable and clamshell parts washers available today. Each of the factors in the following Parts Washer Comparison Chart affect the cleaning results and suitability of a particular washer for your parts cleaning operation. Cleaning performance is most directly affected by the Power Density and Heating Capacity of the Aqueous Parts Washer you choose.  Many Parts Washers lack both the heat and cleaning power to handle these tough cleaning applications:

  • Diesel Engine Block Cleaning
  • Diesel Cylinder Heads with Carbon Cleaning
  • Rail Bearing Washing and Degreasing
  • Locomotive Engine Rebuilding
  • Aluminum Engine Head with Carbon deposits cleaning
  • Electric Motors washing
  • Diesel Transmission cleaning
  • Aircraft Wheel cleaning to remove the Rubber Bead

These tough parts washing applications require temperatures above 175 degrees and Power Density from .30 to 1.20 hp/ft³ or greater. StingRay Parts Washers offer the power and heat for tough cleaning, but also heavy duty construction for long service life and our patented non-synchronized oscillating manifold utilizing the Power Wash process. The Power Wash Process uses the hydraulic force of impact pressure to clean parts with low concentrations of chemicals and high heat. This contrasts with jet spray washing which depends on high concentrations of cleaning detergent and flooding of the parts. The results of power washing are shorter wash cycles and lower chemical costs per wash load. An additional advantage is that the low chemical concentration results in longer life of the parts washing bath before requiring change out due to super-saturation of the solution.

The StingRay Power Blast Manifold system reaches areas otherwise blinded to stationary manifold systems in jet spray washers. In short the Power Blast Manifold and Power washing process provide increased cleaning effectiveness and short cycle times to SAVE YOU TIME AND MONEY.

NOTE: Power Density is defined as the the amount of cleaning horsepower per cubic foot of work volume. Higher power density provides more cleaning energy in a given work volume. The Power Density is reduced at an exponential rate as the diameter of the turntable increases.  It is important to use the power density of a known successful application to determine the proper power density for a different turntable size and work height. StingRay Application Engineers have a database of successful parts washing applications to share with you to determine the proper power density for your parts cleaning task.

It is interesting to note that doubling the work height reduces power density by half and that doubling the turntable diameter reduces power density by one quarter. The result is that a 30 inch diameter by 40” work height parts washer with a 5 horsepower pump has more cleaning energy than a 120 inch diameter turntable by 90” work height with 140 horsepower pumping system.   Be sure to consider power density when selecting a parts washer.
